P5 Become Ancient Egyptian Scientists!
This week, P5 pupils stepped back in time to explore one of the most fascinating aspects of Ancient Egyptian life—mummification!
To help them understand the process, the class carried out a hands-on (and slightly messy!) experiment by mummifying a tomato. Pupils carefully removed the seeds, packed the tomato with natron (a mixture of salt and bicarbonate of soda), and sealed it to begin the preservation process. Over the next few weeks, they’ll monitor the changes and compare their predictions with the results.
The class showed fantastic teamwork, curiosity, and enthusiasm throughout the activity. What a brilliant way to bring history to life!
Well done, P5!
